From Lucinda to Led Zeppelin and everything in between! The evolution of People Talkin' is as much of a rollercoaster ride as their music. Patrice Palmer & Michelle Martin started the band in 2015 as an homage to Lucinda Williams. It's one of her songs where the band gets its name. The band has grown to include Lake City's noted photographer Craig Palmer, and more recently Texas transplants Matt & Kate Hopson. People Talkin' is a local covers band who can be seen in Lake City regardless of the season. Pop sensibilities mixed with rock, country, jazz, blues and grunge. All the hits from every genre and era. James Moors and Kort McCumber are an Americana duo that crafts beautiful story songs that walk the line between rootsy folk and melodic pop. The two songwriters met at the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival in 2005. Sitting around a campfire swapping songs, they each heard something in the music of the other that just fit. The two have been performing and writing together ever since. Having collectively sold more than 30,000 copies of independent releases from the stage, the duo has now released seven of their own full-length albums. Based in Superior, Wisconsin, James Moors is heralded by Steve Morse, longtime Boston Globe writer, as “Sharing some of the same melodic gifts of Neil Finn, enhanced by a warm-hearted spirit that makes you want to hear more.” A talented multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter, Colorado artist Kort McCumber plays a variety of instruments (guitar, banjo, cello, fiddle, accordion, mandolin, Irish bouzouki, piano, harmonica and more) in his own brand of Americana that is one part rock and blues, two parts country-bluegrass and all parts McCumber. Although successful solo songwriters, Moors & McCumber discovered that their music together is more than the sum of the parts. Embracing a bigger sound than most duos, through the night's performance they will play acoustic guitar, mandolin, piano, ukulele, Irish bouzouki, fiddle, harmonica, cello, accordion and more... creating catchy melodies that are big, bright and electrifying to watch live. Music provided between acts by Bruce Hayes who plays a fusion of the musical styles that combine acoustic and electric instruments with elements of rock, bluegrass, celtic, and R&B. Collaborating with The String Cheese Incident and Acoustic Junction, Hayes helped define the acoustic jam band sound. He continues this tradition performing original songs and arrangements on mandolin, guitar, dobro, foot board, and more.

Blue Recluse plays a wide range of blues, rhythm and blues, and country blues from the ‘40s to the present day. Powerful, sultry vocals in combination with a hard-groovin’ rhythm section and classic electric blues guitar and keys makes this band a blues lover’s dream. Put on your dancing shoes, because Blue Recluse will rock your soul with its unique brand of rare and classic songs by the likes of Koko Taylor, Etta James, Big Maybelle, Susan Tedeschi, Bonnie Raitt and Janis Joplin, as well as original songs like Close My Windows, Run Me Ragged and Makin Mud Outta Clear Water. Blue Recluse has played a variety of clubs and festivals in the mountains and on the Front Range.  Shawntel Royale began her music career in Austin, Texas.  She relocated to Colorado and reformed Blue Recluse. Her powerful vocal style reflects the sound of her heroes Koko Taylor, Etta James and Susan Tedeschi.  Michael Twarogowski has been playing blues and rock guitar around Colorado for the last 30 years. Musically educated at the School of Life, his playing is raw, edgy and soulful.  The results will melt your face off. Christopher Hudson has been playing both acoustic and electric bass in the mountains and on the Front Range since the 1980s. His repertoire includes Latin jazz, swing, blues, rock, country, bluegrass and blues.  Ernie Moss is a rock solid drummer who can sing like an angel. He has played in a number of Front Range bands in all genres for the last three decades, including Bob Purcell and the Outriders and Fembot.  Lil Ernie Hatfield has played keyboards for a variety of bands, touring the West Coast and Canada extensively in the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s. Hatfield has the bluesman’s touch on keys and vocals, lending an undeniable authenticity to the sound.

Buckner Funken Jazz is original old school. After BFJ played a flashy opening set for funk legend Maceo Parker, Maceo wasn’t sure if there was anything left to play. “Did you guys leave any FUNK for me?” he said. Lead by respected jazz musician Rod Buckner, BFJ has earned a reputation for blazing club, theater and festival shows that bring together old-school funk and be-bop crashing together. The smiling faces in the crowd usually also like to part to the sounds of Maceo, Karl Denson, Soulive, Miles Davis, Parliament, Stevie Wonder, Charlie Parker, The Funk Meters, Eddie Harris, and anything that GROOVES.

The 2017 festival poster artwork was created by Lake City resident Taylor Long. Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Taylor and his family came to Lake City in 2007. He graduated from High School in 2010 and then attended Western State Colorado University in Gunnison, Colorado. Taylor received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2014. “There’s great inspiration all around in these Colorado Rockies. I’m honored to paint this year’s Wine and Music Festival poster incorporating local symbolism,” says Taylor.
